Articles / Plant Profiles / Eremophila maculata is drought tolerant
1 min read | by John Carter, Updated 06/09/2019
Despite the long dry there are many natives that are happily flowering. Eremophila maculata loves full sun, is covered in flowers for many months and is drought and frost tolerant. As with all Eremophilas it prefers well drained soils but doesn’t mind if these are clay based.
This plant is thriving and in full flower while the other plants on the nature strip have suffered from the lack of water.
The tops of E. maculata leaves and the new stems go red in response to cold temperatures and frosts.
The small honeyeaters love the dense bush with lots of flowers.
