ANPS Council agreed on this Policy on 13 August 2016. ANPS will only make donations for activities that support the Society’s aims as set out in its Constitution. ANPS has developed this donations policy so it will be even-handed and consistent when making decisions about donations and so it has a clear and transparent process for assessing proposals. ANPS will fund donations from the monthly raffle proceeds and from ANPS general funds. There will be four categories of donations:
- Plants from ANPS bi-annual sales
- Copies of ANPS publications
- Untied support for like-minded organisations
ANPS may assist research projects. It will do this in collaboration with an organisation with similar objectives to the ANPS, which already has a system in place for receipt, processing and selection of research projects worthy of support. The exact nature of the arrangement and the maximum amount will be determined by Council on a case by case basis.
2. Plants from ANPS bi-annual sales
ANPS may donate plants to not-for-profit organisations whose activities are community-based. Requests, by letter or email, should be submitted to the Secretary ANPS and will be considered by Council on a case by case basis. Donations will be limited to a maximum of 20 plants per request, and will be in the form of a voucher, issued by the Society’s Treasurer, redeemable for plants at the Society’s twice-yearly ANPS Native Plant Sale. Such plants may not be on-sold but may be used to create gardens, provide revegetation material, used as prizes or for any other purpose in keeping with ANPS aims and objectives.
3. Copies of ANPS publications
ANPS may donate copies of its publications to schools, public libraries and other relevant organisations as a way to disseminate its information as widely as possible. Book requests, by letter or email, should be submitted to Secretary ANPS and will be considered by Council on a case by case basis.
4. Untied support for like-minded organisations and individuals.
The ANPS may provide support for like-minded organisations and individuals. The extent of the donation and conditions will be determined by Council, taking account of members’ support for the nominated organisations, existing MOUs and amounts previously provided. The donation may be in the form of financial support, support “in kind”, and free membership.
